After a quick search you will soon see the temptation for yourself and when you’ve narrowed down to that particular barn which ticks your boxes…you will be booked up, with dates added into your diary – a date to look forward to.
Sometimes all that is needed in order to relax and unwind is a different view and new surroundings – a little time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life stresses. A barn is the great place for this to happen…and the perfect place, is a barn conversion with a hot tub!
Usually set in quiet and peaceful countryside surroundings, barns and former farm buildings such as stables and outhouses are becoming an increasingly popular type of holiday accommodation. Combining time tested natural features with all of the modern conveniences that you have at home, plus the addition of a hot tub, means that your barn getaway offers something for everyone.
And when we say everyone, we mean everyone…in many barns dogs are welcome. Whilst it may narrow your potential choice slightly, like many cottages and lodges there are barns which allow pets and there are also some which are ‘pet friendly’ and have things such as a fully fenced garden and an area outside where to wash your pooch down.
- Barns and Farm Houses
Typically, larger buildings which served another purpose before being converted for us to enjoy our holiday in. Mainly located in rural settings having usually undergone a modern conversion you're setting will be in some of the UK finest and most peaceful countryside.
Barns are completely different from most other accommodation types - imposing, purposeful with history where you'll will truly feel like you are staying somewhere that is one of a kind.
Although many barns have been converted, they tend to be sympathetic conversions where it is of upmost priority to retain those time tested features and period details. Beams, ceiling height, materials, walls, insulation methods and windows all which give a traditional feel of the original structure, creating a unique ambiance where you can relax and make memories.
Often big and spacious a barn can be the ideal place to go for a sociable trip with family and friends. Room to relax and separate living areas for some quite time yet with areas large enough for social occasions and gathering for dinner or games. In fact there are a number of barns which are equip with a games room. Such games provided do vary and can include a pool / snooker table, table football, darts and table tennis. For more relaxing indulgences cinema rooms, steam / sauna rooms and roll top baths are not uncommon.
It's not just the inside areas which gives a great space to enjoy, there's outside as well. Often well-manicured, open gardens where there is space to enjoy the sun on the warmer day or take is swim if you book a barn with a swimming pool. Your rural location means fresh air, openness, scenery and the sound of nature is what is waiting for you outside - lovely.
Other facilities and features such as accessibility aids / disability access, a place close by for fishing or being near to the coast / sea can be can be found without too much difficulty.
All of this can be enjoyed without what is typical with group gatherings when the night draws to and end…how to get home. With room to sleep even the largest of parties, there's no need to think about catching the last train or to arrange for a taxi - a short walk to your bedroom and it's lights out. Or perhaps the only hardship is taking a shower after drinks and relaxation in the hot tub under the stars. - Beautiful Surroundings
For many this is one of best things about staying in a barn - your proximity to the great outdoors and all what mother nature offers.
Many barns are located in some of the most picturesque areas in the UK such as the Lake District, Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Spoilt for choice with wildlife and great views which have you reaching for your camera again and again, as you enjoy your new surroundings.
As with any break away somewhere new, when you explore the area you will probably find that there are places which suit you and your group. For the adventurous and thrill seeking in the parry they can hunt down the places where you can enjoy activities such as kayaking, archery, or rock climbing which we know England, Scotland and Wales can offer us.
If you're the type who just reading about all those activities above is enough for many of us to get out of breath of course you can go in a completely different direction for your enjoyment.
To keep the heart rate at a nice steady pace activities such as an afternoon visiting a cider mill in Somerset or Cornwall, sampling whisky in Scotland or walking the dog along the beach before heading inland back to your barn in Norfolk sounds good to us - maybe it does for you too…
A little bit of pre-planning beforehand and you will soon have many ideas flowing for you to do wherever you decide to book your stay. As with any new area where you want to make the most of it the internet can come in handy to help and assist you. WiFi is a feature provided by many barns, however not all. And as for mobile connectivity use the internet, as we all know in remote areas it isn't always viable or if you can connect it may be at slower speeds that you are used to.
However, if are thinking rest and relaxation with 'no plan is the best plan' mindset then…the relaxing in the hot tub, playing games, eating al fresco, simply sitting around listening to the new sounds all around you whilst doing absolutely nothing, or talking to loved ones are all lovely ways to spend your days and nights in a more traditional way.
You will no doubt have your own thoughts and ideas about the reason you want to book a barn which has a hot tub. We are here to help you find this.
As for the number of nights you can stay - typically it's either 3, 4 or 7 nights. So short stays, long weekends and full weeks are usually bookable, however depending on the time of the year and demand, this can alter. Shorter stays for as little as 2, or even 1 night are not usually possible in a barn. - Group Bookings
As we've mentioned, due to the size most barns can usually sleep more than 8 people. Some sleep over 12, 20 and even more - this naturally makes them a great accommodation choice for larger group meet ups.
This makes barns a popular accommodation choice for a hen parties, stag dos, reunions and even as a place to stay for a work team bonding exercise.
You might very well be the one charged with organising such an event and whilst we'd like to say all barns are open to all male, all female group gatherings, the truth is, they aren't. However, the good news is there are still many barns which allow hen party and stag do bookings who are happy to host big groups to stay in their accommodation.
Not only do some barns allow mixed and same sex large groups, but they even provide information on activity ideas involving local professionals and companies who can be contacted to help add to your experience. Such as having a talented chef from the area who will come and prepare your group an exquisite meal. Other activates such as archery, drawing classes or more indulgences like massages and beauty treatments, to name but a may be available and allowed to come to you and your accommodation.
Many barns have large hot tubs so all...or at least many of your group can get in the hot tub at the same time. Use our filter to help you find these.
Higher security deposits are also typical and usually needed.
