General Info

This detached stone cottage is located on the water’s edge in the small village of Anthorn, a tranquil corner of the Solway coast overlooking Morecambe Bay. This beautifully presented Grade II listed cottage boasts many character features with beams, oak doors, stone floors and an exposed stone wall in the sitting area, making Sonya’s Cottage ideal for family or friends wishing to relax and enjoy time together in this peaceful undiscovered spot. The open plan living area has comfy seating and a bespoke kitchen with French doors that open onto a delightful patio overlooking the estuary, where you can sit and watch the tide ebb and flow. With all of the accommodation on the ground floor, the two lovely bedrooms also have wonderful open views. Outside, the terrace overlooks the lawn and has open views across this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. At the rear is a luxurious hot tub, an ideal way to finish off the day after touring this beautiful region. Walks can be taken from the door to follow the estuary coast line, one of which follows a Roman wall along the coast. The cottage is next to an RSPB bird sanctuary, making it ideal for bird and nature enthusiasts with an abundance of wildlife in the surrounding area including deer, foxes and badgers. Nearby is the village of Abbeytown with the ancient Cistercian Holmcultram Abbey, whilst Hadrian’s Wall is also close by. As well as the glorious coast, the Northern Lakes are also within reach and with charming Cumbrian towns such as Keswick and Cockermouth also nearby, this cottage is an ideal base to enjoy year round. A little piece of Heaven

This beautiful cottage was booked for a week 24th June to 1st July for three of us. Despite it being a little isolated the cottage is perfect in everyway. There is a BBQ and a wonderful hot-tub. The views are to die for, we wanted a week of peace and quite and that is what we got! There is a cute tree swing, and we met Mitzy the dog and played throwing the ball game. The owners Phil and Naomi are very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend this cottage.

Perfect holiday cottage

If you like tranquility then this is just the place. This was a return visit for us having originally visited in 2014. A beautiful cottage which was restored by the owners, who are also the most welcoming of hosts you could possibly imagine. (Along with Mitzi the dog who will keep any young children for a week of ball fetching!) Superbly furnished cottage with views to die for over the Solway Firth. There is also a zip wire and trampoline for children as well as a hot tub. A third visit will certainly be on the cards for us.

Lovely cottage with great views

This is a great cottage to use as a base to look around Cumbria and Northumberland. Lovely and warm and has all the equipment you need.
