• Ambleside - one of the most beautiful parts of Cumbria and is located in the Rothay valley. This is one of the major areas from walking and climbing and is an excellent starting point offering routes to the majority of the Lake District.

• The Rheged - this is one of the latest attractions in Cumbria and also one of the largest to ever open. It doesn't matter what time of the year you visit as this is an all weather centre. The centrepiece of this stunning building with a grass roof is a six storey high cinema screen which takes visitors on a dramatic journey through Cumbria's history. To keep the children happy there is a large playground area filled with a range of rides and activities

• Keswick, Cars of the Stars - anyone interested in TV and cars may wish to add this to their 'to do list'. This unique museum is situated in an old garage in Keswick and features cars from TV and films including the famous Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Batmobile, Back to the Future, James Bonds' Aston Martin and the Flintstones' mobile

• The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway - both children and adults will enjoy the railways at Ravenglass. The train takes it passengers through some of the most stunning countryside and on to the Dalegarth station located close to Eskdale. The railway museum holds a wealth of relics, models and photographs, along with a superb audio and video show
