General Info

Wigglesworth 2.7 miles. This delightful, detached, handcrafted log cabin is situated in a quiet secluded spot, within two acres of its own grounds on the outskirts of Tosside on the border of North Yorkshire and Lancashire. Gisburn Forest Lodge provides the perfect countryside retreat for couples, small families or groups of friends hoping to get away from it all and enjoy the wonders of this fantastic area, with the added bonus of a private hot tub. Boasting natural character and charm and overlooked by nothing but the peaceful surrounding countryside, the lodge creates the refreshing feeling of being in the great outdoors that only a rustic timber lodge can. Head inside to find a large and well-equipped kitchen where you can whip up some family meals with the excellent appliances. Relax in the living/dining room where a large corner sofa awaits you after a long day of walks, with an impressive flat screen HD TV to enjoy too, before joining the group around the dining table to tuck into your feast. French doors lead outside to beautiful decking and your very own private hot tub overlooking the lawned garden; the perfect spot to enjoy the delightful cottage grounds and views beyond. Wonderfully isolated, the lodge's grounds are home to two resident pheasants and a little robin, keen to show off his handsome red plumage. Deer can often be seen across the beck, while sheep graze in the nearby fields and bats flutter across the star-spangled night sky. Settle down in one of the three delightful bedrooms after another fun-filled day, with a master double bedroom boasting an en-suite shower room, along with a twin room and a single, the latter two served by the family bathroom. Begin exploring the area with some local walks or challenging bike rides beginning right from your doorstep, with the luxury of the bubbling hot tub to look forward to later on. Just a short stroll from the lodge is the Crowtrees Inn where you can enjoy live Saturday night entertainment alongside excellent food and a games room, whilst the neighbouring village of Wigglesworth is home to a local Post Office with a shop inside and a pub too. This area is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts thanks to the many outdoor activities and pursuits available to do in the area, from pony trekking, to golf, to caving and even trout fishing at the Stocks Reservoir, there's sure to be something to suit everyone! An easy drive can bring you to the Gisburn Forest Bike Trail offering fantastic mountain biking for all abilities. Heading a little further afield can bring you to White Scar Caves, the Settle-Carlisle Railway, the famous Ribblehead Viaduct, Malham Cove and Bolton Abbey, to name a few, so you'll never be short of options. The Hot Tub

    Location

    Reviews

Remote and quiet, maybe a glamping experience for non-campers

The property is genuinely remote and you look out on fields. A residential development over the back is not noisy and almost invisible. The photos of the property are accurate and it is clean. Not all local pubs / restaurants are open in COVID times. We therefore self-catered most nights. The fridge/freezer is tiny so we had to go shopping every 2 days, luckily the Booths supermarket in Settle is excellent. The hot tub works and is very pleasant, although note there is only the one shower and, with 4 of us staying, cold showers happened a couple of times. We have fed back that the central heating wouldn’t work for us, not great weather, but obviously other weeks the heating wouldn’t be needed
